Potterworld in Bloom

Hello, my dear readers, and welcome back to the Daily Diviner! Warm weather has returned to the Northern Hemisphere, meaning spring has officially sprung! Potterworld has ushered in the changing of the season with a new celebration to enjoy and cosmetics to fit the weather of spring. Here are some things to take a look at before the end of the season!

As of April 1st, the courtyard outside of the Great Hall has been transformed by the visiting Bunny Burrow! Some may remember these competing chocolatier-and-candy companies from the 2020 Spring Event; they have made the trip to the surface this year and have set up shop in the courtyard. Delectable Magical Delights, Million-Hares Chocolates, and Hop’s Sugary Delights are the three competing companies; which will recruit you?

Once you have been recruited to a company, they will require lots of help. To help with the candy making, players can break open Eggbud Plants, which are found all across the Hogsworth grounds. Searching far and wide across the Hogsworth grounds was relaxing, and with only a six-hour cooldown, they are easy to grind. This celebration is perfect for players who want to log on and relax on the server! There are plenty of cute rewards for finding candy, including an exclusive 2025 Spring Basket for storing items. The celebration will be open until May 3rd; do not wait to participate!

Alongside the in-game celebration, on April 1st, the Store team released the Beastly Store Releases, full of items that fit perfectly with the recent Expedition to the magical zoo and our own Magical Creatures Special Edition. Two new pets will follow you on your spring adventures: the Pet Bizirik is a fierce (but endearing) three-tailed cat that will fend off any lurking dangers, and the Pet Amethyst Dragon is a great flying companion that will always have your back. You can also master the sky with the Amethyst Dragon Mount! There is more to see in these releases, so navigate here for all of the new items!

Additionally, just last week, we were treated to a new seasonal collection: the Blooming Store Releases! They arrived just in time to enjoy them with the courtyard celebration. The Choco Bunny Death Effects and Spring Wand Lore are great for lovers of spring who want to show it! There are also several new items exclusive to Drooble’s Order members, including the adorable new Spring Emojis; if you ever see these in chat, now you know where they came from! These items will only be available until the end of the season (May 3rd).

I hope you are as excited for this spring as I am! Potterworld is in bloom, so what are you waiting for? Hop online and get to collecting candy in a carefully curated outfit courtesy of the Store team! Make sure to work together with fellow players to get as much candy as possible and to have a great time. Have a happy spring!

Speaking with the Curators
Editorial
Written by Silquer
Edited by snotflower

With the season of change upon us, it makes sense that Potterworld has been making some changes of its own! Let me introduce the Curators, a brand-new team within the Community Management department that has just recently hosted their very first community event. To gain some insight into the new team, I spoke with the current members (Creme_de_Creme, Dismana, jake_ft, Tangular123) about their experiences thus far.

If you are not already aware, the Curators are responsible for running the brand-new Expeditions. These community events are built to bring players together in various sessions for a limited time. The first Expedition took place in a magical zoo and was a great success!

Now that you know what the team is, it is time to get to know the members. I asked each team member about what they have enjoyed on the team so far. Dismana (Athena) responded:
I've personally enjoyed my time, though short, I've gotten to bond together with the team really well and even done some small activities to help contribute towards the next Expeditions.

Meanwhile, jake_ft (Jake) spoke about the Expedition itself, saying:
I really enjoyed seeing the chat during the Expeditions. It was awesome to have so many people from all across the world working together to complete the activities and generally just chatting once the activities were complete!

Both Creme_de_Creme (Ariel) and Tangular123 (Tang) seemed to have similar thoughts on the team so far:
Ariel: I have loved getting the community to come together again for some fun activities centred around getting to work together.

Tang: I've really loved seeing players help each other out throughout Expeditions, building such a lovely community!

This first Expedition was hosted at the end of March over the span of a full week; plenty of players experienced it, but what was it like from the perspective of the Curators? Jake said:
It went really well! With it being the first it was always going to be a trial, and we’ve received some great feedback to take forward into our future projects. Thank you to everyone who filled out the feedback form or shared their thoughts!

Ariel had the perspective of the old Community Engagement events, saying:
It was honestly really fun getting to rework/revamp an old CE to fit the Curator expectations. Seeing how many people attended the Expeditions, I think people were excited alongside us.

Tang added:
I loved seeing gameplay return that some players have been a part of before, and others haven't played through! I also thought the leaderboards provided healthy but fun competition! It was great in my opinion for players to return to a build that isn't otherwise seen.

It sounds like the first Expedition was a success! It will be exciting to see how future Expeditions change and improve. With future Expeditions in mind, here is why you should check them out according to the Curators!
Athena: The Expeditions are a great way to spend some time together with friends and even meeting new people as they aren't centered around rewards but just sharing an experience together! While attending does give you a badge to look back at your memory of the expedition, there's also separate activities everyone can take part in for fun, such as a leaderboard activity if you're a bit competitive and a hidden badge if you like searching for secrets.

Jake: Every Expedition will be different, and we really want to deliver activities that many different people can enjoy! Whether you want to top the leaderboard, collect the badges or just hangout we’d love to have you there!

Ariel left us with a final comment:
Come join an Expedition to have some fun and make new friends!

I highly recommend that you do so, as Ariel recommends! A huge thanks to the Curator team for taking the time to share their experiences. The Curators are a vibrant, passionate team, and I cannot wait to see what projects they produce in the future. I, for one, will be participating in any future Expeditions. Make sure to keep an eye out for any announcements!

The Adventure of Discoveries
Server Spotlight
Written by littledead
Edited by snotflower

Welcome back to the Server Spotlight column, Daily Diviner readers. With spring in full bloom, I find myself in a rather adventurous spirit. One of my favorite ways to spend my free time is by exploring! Discoveries are a great motivator for exploring as they help keep track of your travels. They are split up into four groups: Domain, Landmark, Restricted, and Character.

The best place to begin on your discoveries adventure is with the easiest to find discoveries: Domain and Landmark. Hogsworth is the first Domain discovered right after the First Year Experience quests. As you explore the castle, you will come across Landmark discoveries like the Ruin Courtyard, Wicked Willow, and a variety of paintings that double as secret passages like the Wigtown Founder’s Painting in the Restricted Section of the Library.

Towns across the map count for Domains, and the various shops and local hotspots account for the Landmarks. A popular spot for Hogsworth students in Hogsend is Honeysweets, but did you know there is a shop dedicated to the care of Dragons? Fangs-A-Lot Dragon Shop is a hidden treasure of the town and another Location discovery you should be sure to check out.

Restricted discoveries are either an item that holds a special story or a hard to find, often hidden, location. They require a keen eye to spot! One of the first Restricted discoveries I came across was The Poltergiest’s Office hidden in the Dungeons of Hogsworth. Also while in the Dungeons, I had a run in with a particularly artistic rat in the Serpent Common Room named Raphael Rattington.

The Ministry of Magicians in London holds some of the most challenging Restricted discoveries to find. By wandering the halls of the Department of Mysteries, you can find the Brain Room, Hall of Prophecies, Planet Room, Time Room, and Death Chamber. One of these rooms also holds a Strange Blue Telephone Box with unknown origins.

The last type of discovery to find are Character discoveries. These are ghosts that have some affiliation with a location or have a story to tell about their life or death. My first Character discovery was found by accident while I was traveling through the Deep Forest. There, I met Mae Carter, who died tragically from a Boglog attack. Also in the Deep Forest hanging around Haggleton is the ghost of Corey Gray, a friendly spirit dedicated to protecting the forest and its inhabitants.

As of right now, there are 299 discoveries in total—a real challenge for the ultimate adventurer. While it is fun to go solo, I also recommend getting together with a group to hunt down these discoveries together. There is much to learn about the wizarding world and what may lurk in the most hidden of places. Have a fantastic day and good luck on your explorations!

Egg-cellent Egg Hunt Hiding Spots
Lifestyle
Written by yakko__
Edited by LMNJ

Happy spring, Daily Diviner readers! As a Honeybadger prefect, one of my favorite spring traditions is hunting for eggs at Hogsworth. Every year, some of the other prefects and I organize an unofficial egg hunt for all the students who do not return home for spring break. Hogsworth is the perfect place for egg hunting, full of winding pathways, nooks, crannies, and hidden rooms. However, even with a primo egg hunting ground such as Hogsworth, strategy has to come into play for you to take full advantage of the location. Because of this, I have put together some tips to help make you all expert egg-hiders—and egg-finders. Don't worry, fellow prefects; I won’t give away all our secret spots!

The most effective hiding places can be split into two categories: ones that are accessible to all students regardless of house, and those which are house specific. The Great Hall and the Entrance Hall are examples of the former. You can take advantage of the architecture, using tall pedestals, concave sections of the walls, or even on the armor podiums. Hiding eggs above the sightline of the average first and second years is important, as younger children rarely look up. However, you should also choose more secluded spots to make a challenge for the older students. Those locations will be more plentiful on the Hogsworth grounds or in big classrooms.

House-specific hiding places are, obviously, located within each of the houses’ common rooms. Since I am only familiar with the Badger common room and the common rooms are all designed differently, I will describe attributes to look for in your own common rooms and dorms. First, it is important to make sure your eggs will not be hidden where someone will step on, sit on, or lie on them. Not only will that make a mess, they also tend not to be the most covert hiding places. Tucked into the corners of bookshelves, cupboards, and underneath desk chairs are good places to start. Hiding some in the bathrooms is another, as that is a fairly unexpected egg hiding spot.

While these are all great hiding spots, it is important to keep in mind that there are also bad hiding spots. If an egg is placed somewhere very obvious and in plain sight, like the middle of the entrance hall, that is a subpar spot. However, an experienced egg hunt organizer can actually use these spots to their advantage. Having a few eggs out in the open lowers the hunters’ guards and will make them less likely to make a thorough sweep of the area. The only really bad spots are those which are dangerous for you or your hunters to reach.

That concludes my egg hiding guide! While finding perfect hiding spots is a lot of fun, it is important to remember that this is a group activity intended to entertain and occupy students of a large age range. Seeking out the most obscure locations and successfully outplaying everyone can feel very exciting, but ultimately the goal is for the hunters to find the eggs, not for you to hide them forever. Be strategic but try not to take it very seriously.
